The company has thousands of websites and digital products in the marketplace that don’t always adhere to brand guidelines or follow best practices for accessibility.
Create a single source of truth for corporate digital design guidelines and a library of components that would allow both commercial and non-commercial AstraZeneca products go to market more efficiently and effectively.
As an Experience Design Director on AstraZeneca’s global commercial digital health team, I acted as project co-creator on the AZ Experience Library product. I helped re-imagine and launch an improved AZ EXL to better serve internal and external partners across the enterprise.
User feedback helped guide and heavily informed UX design decisions. Our team was able to collect user feedback via multiple channels and methods.
We interviewed various stakeholder groups including global AZ digital team members and agencies of record staff to gain wide ranging feedback and perspectives.
We routinely A/B tested prototype concepts to gauge which designs resonated with stakeholders and offered the most intuitive experience.
We looked at best-in-class design systems from across industries to inform our decision making and guidelines.
Research revealed stakeholders wanted a one-stop shop to serve as a consistent and up-to-date resource for best practices. Creating a more holistic experience across AZ brands would require clearly defined guidelines and a foundation for digital governance.
Stakeholders also desired step-by-step omni-channel implementation strategies and resources to find help when needed.
In a hands-on role, I helped with the visual design and information architecture of the website.
Leaning on my expertise across design, branding and UX, I helped define best practices, guidelines and build the UI design kits.
